Tezu

Introduction



Tezu can be described as one of the census towns and HQ of ‘Lohit district’ within Arunachal Pradesh, India.

The age-old habitants relating to this gorgeous ‘land of valleys and rivers’ are ‘Mishmi’ tribes. The specialty of this tribe is that it still has Queens and a King residing in Tezu’s district HQ. Mishmi tribes are said to have customs and traditions which date back to times of ‘Mahabharata’. It’s, in fact, said that Mahabharata’s Rukmini had been a ‘Mishmi damsel’.

Tezu stands at an elevation of 606 feet.

As per census conducted in the year 2001, Tezu’s population was 15014. Males constituted around 55%25 of this population. Literacy rate on an average was 68%25; i.e. much higher as compared to national average (59.5%25). Around 15%25 had been under the age of 6. Dibrugarh Airport

Lali Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary houses various wild animals. Its specialty is ‘sambar deer’. It’s bordered on western, eastern, and northern sides by Siang River. Wild buffaloes are also found over here. What else to describe about this amazing wildlife sanctuary? It has everything which a tourist can ask for. This sanctuary would just make one’s day. It’s the best thing to be visited during the weekends.

Pasighat

Introduction


Pasighat can be mentioned as the HQ of ‘East Siang District’ in Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Located at an elevation of 155 meters, Pasighat, with scenic splendors on its part is the oldest town in Arunachal Pradesh.

The origin of Pasighat can be traced to 1911 AD. The credit of its finding goes to Britishers. They had discovered this town to make it serve as gateway to ‘administrative convenience’ with regards to area north and greater Abor Hills. Basically it had been one of the settlements of ‘Pasi’ tribes that’re still found staying in hamlets in as well as around Pasighat. Much before known settlement, existing area had been inhabited by ‘Mishing’ people. Daying Ering Wild Life Sanctuary

This sanctuary lies at a distance of 13 Km from the city. Moreover, it’s one amongst a few sanctuaries that are situated on the island. Tourists need to cruise via river Siang, of course by boat for reaching this sanctuary. From September to February, loads of ‘migratory birds’ such as Wild Ducks, Cranes, Hornbills, Water Fowls, and Storks come over here all the way from far-off places; thereby having it made a ‘bird’s paradise’. Buffaloes, Wild Elephants, deer, and little predators are found in abundance as well. One who is lucky would get to see the tiger.

Pangin

Situated at the distance of around 60 Km from the location, connected through road, Pangin goes on to have stood at the point where ‘River Siom’ happens to meet River Siang; thereby presenting a marvelous sight. Siom’s blue waters meet Green waters of Siang. The sight just cannot be missed out.

Itanagar

Introduction



This is a Hill Resort of Itanagar and is the capital of the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh.

Itanagar is also known as mini India, as people from all over the country, live here in harmony and the main tribe is called Nishis. Situated at the foothills of Himalayas with a population of 34,970 it is also well connected with the rest of the country by road and air communications.

Itanagar also houses the official residence of the Govener and the city recently engaged in an attempt to preserving the centuries old heritage of the tribal communities in the area.

Also located close by is the plains of the Brahmaputra River.

Itanagar experiences a subtropical and alpine climates which enables it to be pleasant all through the year, with monsoon rains between the months of July and September with an average rainfall received of 260 cm annually. ... Show details

Ita-fort


Ita-fort is a top-spot for tourists when in Itanagar.

Itanagar derives its name from the Ita Fort which dates back to the Ahom rulers in the 14th century. Constructed with more than 8 million bricks it stood guardian to the capital city.


Buddhist Monastery


Buddhist Monastery the landmark of Buddha Vihar, as the name indicates it is a Buddhist shrine and lies in the hill amidst gorgeous green gardens with a yellow roof


The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Museum


The Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Museum provides a great view of the State and one can see wood carvings, musical instruments, textiles, handicrafts and archeological finds.


Ganga Lake


Ganga Lake is finally a lovely picnickers spot for nature lovers. Ganaga Lake is actually a great tourist spot, with gorgeous greens wrapping the Lake.

Daporijo

Introduction


Daporijo can be described as one amongst the census towns located in Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Daporijo is HQ of ‘Upper Subansiri district’. It stands at an elevation of around 600 meters from sea level.

Daporijo inhabitants go on to have belonged to Hill Miri, Adi Gallong, and Tagin tribe.
The population as per 2001 census was 15468. Out of this number, males constituted around 52%25. Literacy rate on an average was around 59%25; i.e. slightly lower than national average (59.5). Around 19%25 of total population was found to be below the age of 6.

The reputable weaving culture pertaining to tribal people would be observed in Daporijo city. This activity is amongst the prime professions of women over here. As such, majority of people in this place earn their bread and butter from this pursuit. Animal husbandries and certain small-scale breeding farms can also be mentioned as places which are worth visiting.

Meghna Cave Temple

Arunachal Pradesh

Introduction




The meaning of Arunachal Pradesh in Sanskrit is ‘land of the dawn lit mountains’.

It is located in the north eastern tip of India, Arunachal Pradesh is consequently known as the ‘land of the rising sun’. A fraction of the famous Ledo Burma road passes through this state which was a salvation to China during World War II.

Mostly covered by the Himalayas, this state is one of the most meagerly populated states of India covering an area of 83.743 sq.kms. It took on a self governing political status in January 20, 1972, hereby being declared as a Union Territory.

The climate is humid and hot at the lower altitudes as compared to the higher altitudes where it becomes exceptionally cold. Arunachal Pradesh experiences the heaviest rainfall in the country with an average rainfall of more that 350 cm.

This Union territory inhabits 26 tribes and a variety of sub tribes which are culturally similar being derived from original mongoloid stock.
