Daporijo

Introduction


Daporijo can be described as one amongst the census towns located in Arunachal Pradesh, India.

Daporijo is HQ of ‘Upper Subansiri district’. It stands at an elevation of around 600 meters from sea level.

Daporijo inhabitants go on to have belonged to Hill Miri, Adi Gallong, and Tagin tribe.
The population as per 2001 census was 15468. Out of this number, males constituted around 52%25. Literacy rate on an average was around 59%25; i.e. slightly lower than national average (59.5). Around 19%25 of total population was found to be below the age of 6.

The reputable weaving culture pertaining to tribal people would be observed in Daporijo city. This activity is amongst the prime professions of women over here. As such, majority of people in this place earn their bread and butter from this pursuit. Animal husbandries and certain small-scale breeding farms can also be mentioned as places which are worth visiting.

Meghna Cave Temple


This monument is known more for its beauty rather than the deity present within. The hilly region truly mesmerizes the tourists. As such, caves are the places which always create some sort of thrill. Moreover, if a particular cave is located at a higher altitude, there can be no words to describe the feelings that get developed with the very thought of going over there. One can pay a visit to this cave as a part of trekking as well. Daporijo is more known for scenic beauty on its part. There are many points in and around the cave through which hiking can be done.
